The theme of the conference “Transforming Healthcare through Innovation in Digital Health” aims to encourage researchers, practitioners, nurses, scientists, healthcare workers and suppliers from across the world to cooperate, share knowledge and experience to use information technology to improve the healthcare status of people.

Apart from the outstanding scientific program, trade fair and social events, the conference will provide an excellent opportunity to forge new relationships with professional colleagues from various nations including the Asia Pacific region. The decision to host MedInfo 2021 in Sydney was announced in Hangzhou, China, during MedInfo 2017, the 16th World Congress on Medical and Health Informatics hosted by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).

Jack Li FACMI FACHI gave a intriguing keynote titled “A Phone is worth a Thousand Miles” about his work as a dermatologist in Mongolia.

Papers for the 2016 Conference of the Asia-Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI) can be submitted until 24 July – acceptances will be notified on 29 August 2016.

India held its first Health IT Connectathon on 21-22 May 2016 in Bengalaru, India.  10 companies tested 29 different products in the HIS, RIS and DICOM areas.

Interoperability between HIS, EMR, PACS, LIS and various other systems is a challenging area in Healthcare IT. As a customer one deals with multiple vendors to achieve smooth flow of information between disparate systems with varying success rates.

The idea of demonstrating it in a workshop while being monitored by technical folks gave rise to an annual event that is now regularly held in USA.

Organisers:

• Indian Association for Medical Informatics (IAMI) – the single professional home for medical informatics is organizing this event, hoping to build on it and make it a regular event in India too.
• HL7 India – the India chapter of Health Level 7 aka HL7 is a joint organizer

Data sharing was accomplished for all the use cases and the vendors were presented with appropriate certificates.
